Dial the CapTel phone user’s telephone number directly.*
A CapTel Operator will automatically be connected to the call and transcribe word for word what you say into captions which will be displayed on the CapTel phone user’s screen.
* In some situations, the CapTel user may be using an analog CapTel phone. When this occurs, in order for them to receive captions of the conversation, you will need to dial into the call center first (877-243-2823), then enter in the phone number of the CapTel user.
Receiving Relay Calls: When you receive a relay call and hear, “Hello a person is calling you through T-Mobile Relay Service…” - don’t hang up! When you receive a relay call the first time you may think a telemarketer is calling, but the T-Mobile Relay Service call may be the most important call you receive, as the person calling may be deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, or have a speech disability. They are making calls or contacting you to do business - just like everyone else.
Receiving CapTel Calls: On CapTel calls, no special announcement is made by the operator. The CapTel user will speak for themselves and announce their call in any way they like when you answer the phone.
